Announcement: Big Gulps huh? Alright. Well, see ya later!

December 6, 2010

It is with great regret that we are informing you that The Ice Is Life, your favorite blog in the history of the entire internet, is, unlike the Death Star in Return of the Jedi, no longer operational.

Many of the cynics out there will probably take the following announcement as evidence that we don’t want to write about this awful team any more. You are only half-right.

In fact, this blog is closing because while it has become increasingly difficult to find new and exciting ways to say that Maury Edwards is having an absolute nightmare of a season, that this team quits on games the second it goes down a goal and that no one seems to have any idea of what’s going on, it’s really because we just don’t have the time to do it any more. Not the way we’d like to anyway.

You may have noticed a significant decline in the quality of the blog over the season, and it’s because we just don’t have enough time these days to keep pounding out words in the quantity and quality we have in the past. Thousand-word screeds about how terrible everything about Amherst is (very), the inherent corruptness of Hockey East and all its officials (remarkable) and the quality of reporting in the college hockey media (low) are simply no longer feasible parts of our day. We wish this were not the case, but it is.

It was fun while it lasted, and we’ll always have The Non-Goal.

We may check in every once in a while to gloat about beating Vermont again and again and again or other such things, but the days of this blog being written every day are over. We are also going to more actively update the Twitter account so that you can keep up with the brilliant thoughts we share.

We hope you’ll understand why this is happening. Mommy and daddy just don’t love you any more.

So we leave you with this:

Whichever team you like will always be terrible irrespective of their records. Unless you like Lowell.

Go Lowell forever.

Ironic that a loss to UMass was the final death blow! ; )

All joking aside, too bad. Keep the twitter feed going strong.

In a towering testament to how crummy things have become for us, we actually meant to post something to this effect last Monday. We are the worst.

On top of a terrible season…now this? I don’t know where to go for pre and post game analysis beyond the 2-3 paragraphs the Lowell Sun puts out.

C’mon guys, please come back when/if Lowell is able to come out of the gutter again.
