Loose pucks: Always look on the bright side of life

October 13, 2009

Three things that have us smilin’:
1) Kory Falite

Now this was an inspired weekend for the kid. Two goals, two assists, strong forechecking, good backchecking and what appears to be actual motivation? We love it. He’s got the potential to be a lethal player this season.

2) Riley Wetmore

A pair of points in your first two games; that’s the way you start out your career, eh?

3) This season

Despite one crummy result (which, admittedly, is very crummy), Lowell is still going to roll over Hockey East like the Fifth Panzer Army in the Battle of Sidi Bou Zid this year, so we’re trying to worry about it a lot less than we have so far.

Two things that got us frownin’ :( :
1) Frustration.

At the same time, a loss to freaking Nebraska-Omaha is several kinds of unacceptable.

2) Looking up at losers

The above is especially true in the face of strong splits from Northeastern and, especially, Vermont. We think Lowell needs to start piling up the wins nice and early here just so we don’t give these bums the wrong idea, namely that they can hang with the River Hawks. They shouldn’t do it. They can’t do it. They won’t do it.

Stat of the Week

Kory Falite is the first player to have four points from two games to open a season since Barry Goers did it in 2007 against Amherst and Alabama-Huntsville. He had a goal and three assists.

If life seems jolly rotten, there’s something you’ve forgotten

With no games this weekend, Lowell is really screwing up our Friday and Saturday. What are we supposed to do? Live normal, productive lives? Forget it, not interested. Maybe we’ll work a little bit more on determining just who is disrespecting us, and how much. We’ve got a big TWiD coming tomorrow, but, as you’d expect, we’re always on the lookout for more.
