(Slightly less late) Weekend in review: Limping out of break too

January 6, 2009

A million things happened, and we’re not feeling particularly up to recapping a 15-game week that featured one Hockey East game (UNH’s stunning comeback to win 5-4 against Maine in Orono on Sunday). Lowell has sucked for a month so that’s pretty much all we care about at this point.

Watch as this blog turns incredibly sarcastic and mean-spirited until Lowell gets a convincing win over someone of note.

Our Weekly Awards
Player of the Week
Carter Hutton, Lowell (junior goalie) — He was the only Lowell player that bothered to make his presence felt in Chicago, so what the heck? Attaboy Hutts. Wish the team cared as much as you.
(Honorable mention: Some guy, some school; Another guy, different school)

Rookie of the Week
Kieran Millan, BU (freshman goalie) — Kid gave up one goal on 34 shots at No. 5 Denver in the final of the Denver Cup, so we guess that’s a pretty worthy performance, eh? Who were we gonna give it to? That Rob Madore kid? Yeah, St. Lawrence at home. Pfft.
(Honorable mention: No one worth mentioning, crummy schools for jerks)

Ham n Eggers of the Weak
Lowell — You guessed it. A stinkeroo of a weekend.
(Dishonorable mention: Lowell’s offense; everyone on Lowell not named Carter Hutton; the US World Junior Championship team that got punked out by freakin’ Slovakia in the QUARTERfinals)

Permanent Tomato Cans:
Providence College (3-10-1, idle this weekend)
